In Banda Aceh, Indonesia, VAMED, in cooperation with Austrian and Hungarian aid organizations, carried out the turn-key implementation of a general and children’s hospital with an integrated pediatric clinic. Located in one of the areas most affected by the tsunami, the Meuraxa Hospital opened in November 2007 and was recognized as the most significant post-tsunami reconstruction project. VAMED served as the chief initiator and provided its complete service package free of charge, making a vital contribution to the hospital’s successful completion and long-term impact.
